The African Network of Centers of Excellence in Electricity (ANCEE) is a continent-wide initiative led by the Association of Power Utilities of Africa (APUA) and supported by the African Development Fund of the African Development Bank Group (AfDB), the French Development Agency (AFD) and the Power Utility Companies of Africa.

The overall objective of the project is to enhance performance of the power sector and intensify regional trade through technical and managerial capacity building in different areas, including the governance of the sector.

SECTION 1: OBJECTIVES OF THE ANCEE SCHOLARSHIPS 

1. Provide additional financial support to speed up the professional development of the trainees working in the core trades in electricity, in particular the operators and technicians

2. Increase the number of in-service training courses for the staff of power utility companies of Africa

3. Reward the individual efforts made in the pursuit of careers in the power utility companies of Africa

4. Encourage gender parity in the Sector (33% of scholarships set aside for women)

5. Reduce the opportunity gap in respect of training offered to countries in vulnerable economic circumstances and the well-endowed countries

6. Anticipate and bring under control the effect of an ageing technical staff

7. Encourage the mastery of new and renewable energy
